The Smoke Co. . Bengaluru

The promoters of Café Thulp, a Bengaluru based chain of restaurant serving gourmet food having a cult following amongst the millenials, planned to embard upon a new venture.  They wanted to introduce the authentic American barbecue food to the Indian foodies.  After years of research in creating magic with smoked meats, the duo identified a prominent site at Koramangala.  SilverNeedle Hospitality (SNH), a hotel group based out of Singapore, was hired to assist them in setting up the restaurant.  While SNH provided technical inputs on the restaurant planning, kitchen design and facility planning, they teamed up with Sylvan Architecture for developing the architectural and interior design for the project.  Having worked on multiple hotel and restaurant projects with SNH, Sylvan Architecture seamlessly integrated the facilities plan with a unique architectural design concept.  Being a BBQ restaurant, the choice of materials had to be stone and metal – reminiscent of the proverbial smoker.  Sylvan decided to use Corten steel façade, combined with sandstone and glass.  Same materials were used for the interiors as well, combined with designer ceramic ware and wood.  The result is a sculptural creation with each element in the building and interior custom designed for the project.
