Cold Water Creek Restaurant . Wollongong . Australia

Inspired by the laid back modern gastropub dining, the promoters wanted to develop a novel concept for this restaurant chain. Sylvan first developed a prototype design with elements of design that may be interpreted contextually wherever each franchise is opened. The promoters then mandated Sylvan to adopt the prototype to design the restaurant for the franchise at Sage Hotel, Wollongong. The restaurant was designed to operate from the hotel lobby. The ceiling design element was

re-interpreted into a lumber shell, to take shape as the whole envelope for the restaurant, in order to define its own space within the hotel lobby. The other design elements were designed as modular elements that could be manufactured at an off-shore location and shipped to the site. The restaurant was set-up in a matter of thirty days.
